This renovated & extended house is originally a 50 sqm 3BR model bungalow in an inner corner lot walled on 3 sides.

Given the limited space and functional constraints of preserving the old structure, we carefully built the new spaces around the pre-existing house. Some interior walls were knocked out, giving way to a spacious kitchen and dining block. Light and air cuts through the 2nd level walls through panoramic clerestory windows and vertical slits. A double volume living area with sliding glass walls visually expands the space and creates a picture window to a landscaped narrow yard beyond.

To maintain a subtle profile from the street, the facade reveals only blank walls and volumetric blocks. Each of these blocks represent a designated use - kitchen, dining, toilet, bedroom and living area - spaces that seem to grow out organically from the pre-existing house.
